There is a whole lot of happenings that go before the birth of a baby. My soon-to-be-born grandson’s nursery took shape with a coat of paint, a baby bed, changing table, and rocking chair. His drawers were full of soft clothes, diapers, and ointments. It was a room needing a baby.
Before Jesus’ death, He tried to prepare his disciples. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you,” Jesus told them.
But in a little town of Bethlehem, before Jesus’ birth, no room was found for the Savior.
Because there was no room in the inn, Mary and Joseph made Him a manger bed.
There is an uprootedness of soul that stirs everyone at times, a searching for station and a wandering of spirit. We find ourselves feeling out of place, in the feeding trough of life.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me,” Jesus assured the not-quite-home-yet disciples. John 14:1-6; NASB.
The truth is, home is where Jesus is.
Is there room in your heart for the indwelling Truth? For truly, we are home when He is there.
